Andrew T Posted November 15, 2004 Report Posted November 15, 2004 First cold night of the Autumn and we have a dead battery. From what I can find on the forum 3.5 years is actually quite good for a Calcium battery. The only place I can source a Calcium battery is Ford at Quote
Masked Marauder Posted November 15, 2004 Report Posted November 15, 2004 Calcium batteries for a Galaxy are available from Halfords or, cough, Vauxhall as part of their "GO" range of aftermarket parts. If yours has Ford stylee square clamps you can buy converters to round ones. Quote
seatkid Posted November 15, 2004 Report Posted November 15, 2004 Virtually all, good brand batteries (e.g. exide, lucas etc) are lead-calcium. If they are clearly labelled "Maintenance free" they will be calcium technology , they usually have a charge indicator buit in. and at least a 3 year guarantee. You have to use Lead-calcium tech batteries on Ford engines as their "smart" alternator is set to charge calcium batteries. They require a much higher charge voltage than old Lead- antimony batteries which will die quickly or possibly explode if used in their place. Steer clear of cheap Motor Factor brands, in fact steer clear of Motor Factors.....try one of the national Tyre chains and ask for their best brands.. Quote
Andrew T Posted November 15, 2004 Author Report Posted November 15, 2004 Thankyou both for your advice. Prices so far for calcium batteries with 4 years gaurantee, Halfords Quote
